About Teva
My life is fulfilled through the work I do. I earned my Bachelor of Social Work in December of 2009, and have worked hard to achieve the goal of becoming a HypnoBirthing® Childbirth Educator. I continue to pursue my passion for helping expectant families to achieve their ideal birth. Being a labor support/doula is my goal as I come nearer to the completion of my certification as a Certified Professional Doula (CPD) through toLabor, The Organization of Labor Assistants for Birth Options & Resources, formerly known as ALACE.
This is how my journey began. For as long as I can remember, I have had a fascination with pregnancy and childbirth. I have always thought that both should be joyful, beautiful, natural, healthy and peaceful processes. I discovered this for myself when I became pregnant with my daughter in 2006. I gave birth in the summer of 2007 after taking HypnoBirthing classes and knowing how my body and baby functioned in perfect harmony during the labor and birthing process. My daughter was born into a calm environment, with my loved ones and my HypnoBirthing Childbirth Educator, Nicole (who served as my doula), in a hospital. Though my birth was not a 'typical' HypnoBirth, I labored and birthed at my own pace, with education, advocacy, and empowerment as my tools for success. Sydney's birth forever changed my life, and I will never be the same.
People often hear me say that HypnoBirthing changed my life. Through the routine practice of affirmations, relaxation, classes, and my positive expectation of my impending birth, I transformed into a calmer, gentler, more patient person.
Since having an incredibly empowering birth experience, I chose to become a HypnoBirthing Childbirth Educator. I was certified in 2009, and my cup overflows with joy and fulfillment as I assist in the birth journeys of new families.
I have a strong belief that birth can and should be a joyous, peaceful, happy time in families' lives.
I would be honored to be a part of your birthing journey!
